Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency. One of Bali's major arts and culture centers, it has developed a large tourism industry. Ubud has a population of about 30,000 people. Recently, it has become difficult to distinguish the town itself from the villages that surround it.

Scored 89.1, the town of Ubud in Bali won the hearts of the respondents in a recent survey on the Most Sustainable Cities in the World hosted by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. In 2010 the majority of 25,000 of its readers voted Ubud the “Best City in Asia.
